This informative class, co-hosted by a third year medical student, discusses:

• What it takes to get in to medical school. Jackson describes his personal journey and shares some Important lessons and mistakes to avoid while going through this process.
• Alternative medically-based careers that may be equally fulfilling, almost as lucrative, cheaper and quicker to attain, including: nurse practitioner , nurse anesthetist, physicians assistant, DO, etc.
• How to NOT pay for your education through national and state rural healthcare initiatives, the military and other sources of scholarships and/or loan forgiveness.
• Alternate pathways towards careers in healthcare.
• What courses you can take during high school and college that best prepare you for healthcare careers.
• How to best prepare for professional school admissions tests and how to be strategic with the centralized applications when applying to these programs.
• Boosting your resume with volunteerism, clinical experience, research, community engagement and job shadowing.
• What to expect once you are in medical school and beyond.

Location:
