The college application process can be intimidating and overwhelming, but it doesn't need to be if a student makes excellent use of the junior year. There is much to know and action items to address, but it can be well managed by starting early and organizing.

The junior year is critically important because it is the last full academic year a college will see before the application is processed.  By working ahead, students can complete 80% of the work that most students frantically cram into the fall of their senior year. Let's work smart!

This class will cover:

  • The PSAT, SAT, ACT- how, when, and why/if to take them
  • Understanding the best test prep resources and determining the best fit for the student
  • Why and how to work on your college applications now
  • How to complete your resume now and the many ways you will use it
  • Choosing colleges to visit (how many, which ones, when, etc.),
  • Finding out their scholarship and financial aid opportunities,
  • How to calculate what a college would charge you to attend (hint- it's not the stated price)
  • How to recognize weaknesses in your credentials and take steps to strengthen them
  • How to use your summers to stand out to colleges
  • Getting organized and having a clear plan of parent/student communication throughout it all
  • ....all while balancing schoolwork, sports, and the stress of the school year.
  • So, this workshop is a must for families seeking a game plan for what lies ahead and knowledge for navigating it successfully.
  • That is great if you have already attended the College Bound Essentials class!
  • This class will build on what you learned. If not, it is not required that you attend that workshop first- just come to this one and jump right in; you'll be fine.
